City of Lakes Community Band and Washburn High School Bands Present Collaborative Concert “Harmonized Voices”

Minneapolis, MN — The City of Lakes Community Community Band (CLCB) and the Washburn High School Bands partnered this fall to present Harmonized Voices, a collaborative concert that brought together student and community musicians for an evening dedicated to shared artistry, musical growth, and community engagement.

Held in the Washburn High School Auditorium, the event featured performances by both ensembles, including a joint selection that highlighted the combined strength and musicality of the full group. The program featured works by women composers and pieces that emphasized diverse artistic voices, reflecting a shared commitment to inclusive programming and educational enrichment.

The collaboration offered Washburn students the opportunity to rehearse and perform alongside experienced adult musicians, expanding their understanding of ensemble performance and exposing them to the long-term possibilities of lifelong musicianship. For CLCB, the partnership supported its mission as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit to foster community connection through music and to support young artists within Minneapolis Public Schools.

Rehearsals for the concert allowed students and community musicians to work side by side, creating moments of informal mentorship and musical exchange. The joint performance was met with enthusiasm from families, educators, alumni, and community members, underscoring the value of partnerships that bring together multiple generations of performers.

CLCB and the Washburn High School Bands look forward to future opportunities to collaborate and to continue strengthening ties between school music programs and community arts organizations.
